I am a professional coach, but, I am more like the guy that stands on the sideline at the big rugby or basketball games and helps the players perform at their best.

Here is the thing.

When we are under threat or pressure we tend to think and behave in ways that protect us. They are called security-based behaviours. They look like this:

The problem with these ways of thinking is that they act like a handbrake. Avoidance, for example, feels safe. The problem is, too much avoidance and nothing gets done. You end up doing nothing but sitting on the couch eating chocolate or crisps. Or, you take up the fight with oppositional and power, but, too much and it becomes all-consuming and exhausting. You end up being no use to anyone.

If you have been made redundant, or for that matter, feel any sense of insecurity, the last thing you need is a handbrake. To be effective you need more satisfaction based thinking styles.
